Both sides of the slutty coin

Friday and we´re back in La Paz. The fumes, the noise, the hecticness - yep, we´re back in the big city. Not entirely the environment I wanted after such a relaxing few days but it had to be done. And it`s Friday after all, the clubs would simply be empty without us!

Speaking of which, it was the bday of a girl who worked at the bar we frequent so we were all getting excited for that. Having to get several forms of transport back from Isla del Sol then Copacabana meant we didn`t arrive til the afternoon, at which time we promptly faffed around until I finally made it into a shower (none on Isla del Sol because I was scared of the bathroom), and primped myself up for a night on the town.

Not that I knew what a night this would end up being.

We started the drinking at the local gringo haunts, and R the English guy from one of them was on his last night so coming out as well. This was gonna be big. A group of about 15 of us tried for one club and were refused because not everyone had ID, so we just went to the one next door which served mixed drinks in this hideously long cannister with its own pourer. That got us well on the way.

At one point, I realised one of the cutie Bolivian girls was giving me a little more attention than I was used to, and despite her being totally straight I was feeling a certain familiar vibe from her which meant I could have a somewhat more interesting night if I played my cards right. And that I did. Short time later, we were making out on the dancefloor and then she was by my side every moment. Nice one bruvva.

When we got sick of that bar, we went to some local market-place type place where people were standing around eating kebabs sticks of cow heart and drinking litre bottles of beer. Beer hasn`t really appealed to me since I lost my moler, something about the yeasty texture isn`t really going down right, so I said no to the beer and unknowingly no to the cow heart. At the time, I didn`t want to eat anything and they were asking me in Spanish so it was pure luck I said no. Hideous.

Last stop for the night was M`s place, from another bar, which we crash-packed into one taxi after another (and piled into the taxis too, always too many for the seats they had but who knows, when in La Paz...), and I didn`t waste any time finding the spare room. Bada bing bada bam. Haha...

Coming back into the main room, everyone reacted appropriately of course and we were thrown into some random drinking game of no hands, all mouth with a hideous concoction of rum and coke or something.

Next thing I knew I was trying to convince English boy not to go home, instead to "show him the spare room he could sleep in". Sigh. How do I find myself in these predicaments?? Said predicament, however, turned out rather swell and I enjoyed the end of my night swimmingly (although looking over my shoulder the whole time fearing a crazy, newly-lesbian Boliviana coming crashing through the door.) Another English guy bites the dust, eh. What is it about them...

Drunken bowling shenanigans

If you knew how drunk we got last Wednesday night and the ensuing teaching week plus hectic weekend in Germany, you would understand why I have not blogged since last Tuesday. Let`s start from the beginning...

Today was pizza day. And my first time at making it with my students. It was probably the most stressful thing I´ve done yet in my short teaching career. I swear I went a little grey before the end of the three periods it took to finally make the damn things. So I was super glad when it was happy fun times at the bowling place that night.

A student and teacher from a previous school came with us (the boss, the other teacher and the boss´ girlfriend) and we firstly played some pool before heading to the bowling lanes. I, as usual, did not wow with my ´skills´ and enjoyed instead getting myself into an increasingly flirty situation with aforementioned teacher. Who also has a gf. Hey, it was allllllllllllllllllll innocent fun.

We had been drinking since school finished at lunch time so by the time we got home it was pretty messy. I finally had my clothes washed by the people who own the apartment we stay in but their version of ´washing´ is just to put the clothes in, turn the machine on and tell us when it had finished. Ha! Fold say what??

Anyway, waking up the next day was a little harder and of course that was the day the kids decided to be total brats. I was over it. Hump day came a bit late for me.

Back in London...let the drinking commence!

Back in London town and it's - as to be expected - been a crazy few days. After an initial minor freakout pre-return re finding somewhere to stay, I ended up back at the old flat just off Brick Lane with my old flatmates! Good times, at least it was central. And I also had another good mate offer his pad too, so I felt well loved!

Wednesday night consisted of drinking with my trusty, trashy former flatmate and the next day waking to a lunch appointment with my DC girls. Well, almost all of them. That led appropriately to me being drunk by early afternoon wandering the streets of central London, while one of the girls stumbled off to try and avoid acting drunk while nannying, and the other freaking that she'd be fired from the 2-hour lunch break she'd just rewarded herself.

I eventually found myself in the British Museum of all places, somewhere I'd walked past so many times and never even considered going into. The place is huge, incredibly huge, and full of sooooooo many artefacts! Well impressed. But, being a bit boozed, it was one mummy too many and after updating my Facebook status while resting I found someone else to meet after work as I killed time.

Visited old workmates before meeting up with a friend who had just returned to my world after initially getting annoyed at me for something I am still not quite sure I did, I continued to drink steadily and by dinner time was well up for bargaining my way into a good Brick Lane curry deal with other mates. By the time I stumbled home I was spent.

The dinner that never materialised

All I had was one night in London, so I had to make it worthwhile. Told some mates I was in town, didn't really have time to broadcast it but at the same time it was an interesting test to see who gave a shit or not!

I started drinking at lunchtime. 2 thirds of my DC girls made sure of it. Then there was another friend's house. More drinks. And a quick hi to a stressed friend taking time out from work. More drinks. Then meeting up with a lovely lil geezer I missed out on seeing last trip to London for dinner. Although we never ended up eating anything.

A pre-drink at the pub turned into an all-night booze session, highly expected from said geezer plus the other rogues that turned up to join the party. All as bad an influence on each other. Not that I needed much to tip over the edge. Of the spotty memory towards the end of the night, I'm pretty sure I confessed my undying love for a particular someone (to their face) and made a complete, utter fool out of my emo self. Sigh.

Luckily, the person in question had the decency to be a downright sweetheart back and make me feel like less of a douche. But fuck me, someone needs to remind me to pack some gaffer tape in my bag before I go out drinking.
